Effective Medications For Treating Inside Psoriasis

Inside Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a lifelong immune system disorder that causes red, scaly patches to appear on the skin. This problem on the immune system causes skin cells to grow faster than normal, resulting to the appearance of red flakes. Treatments should be focused inside psoriasis because this is where the problem starts.
Since this is a chronic condition, there is no cure for this disease. However, there are inside psoriasis treatments and medications that can prevent or control its symptoms including red patches on the skin, itch and pain felt by the patient. Though this is not a life threatening disease, people who suffer from psoriasis can be irritated by the itch, feel uncomfortable with the pain and even have their self confidence affected because of their appearance, especially if psoriasis is all around their body. Systematic medications are medications that are injected, swallowed or infused. Since these go inside the body, systematic medications are effective in treating inside psoriasis. Some of these medications include acitretin, cyclosporine and methotrexate. Acitretin combined with phototherapy is an effective way to treat psoriasis. This is best for patients with severe psoriasis especially on areas like palm and sole of the feet. It doesn’t suppress immune system so this can be taken by patients who have other diseases that need to boost up their immune system like HIV patients. However, this has side effects including muscle and joint pain, hair loss, kidney problem and severe headache. Patients who take this medicine must be under the close supervision of their doctor. Cyclosporine can be taken in liquid or pill form. It decreases fast growth of cells thus preventing red patches from appearing. Though proven effective, it also has side effects such as muscle and joint pain, fatigue and risk of getting cancer. Methotrexate can be taken orally or through injection. Like other medicines, it also has side effects like headache, nausea, fatigue or even possible liver damage. It’s not recommended for patients with infection and those who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, as this can be dangerous to baby’s health.
Before taking any of these inside psoriasis medications, make sure to consult your doctor to determine the best treatment for you and prevent serious side effects.
